# Preface

One day it occurred to me that when people die, their accounts usually stay alive.

There is something absurd about that. So I decided to be proactive: create a virtual identity called Shadow, then build it a house. This website is that house.

It keeps three things: ideas, works, and objects.

First, ideas.

I want to record how I see the world. My views may be wrong, and a few years from now my future self may overturn them. That is fine. Changing your mind is not embarrassing; pretending you never did is the more awkward business.

If these notes keep evolving until my life ends, they will become a kind of cyber legacy. People who care about me can return to them. A stranger on the same wavelength might wander in one night and discover that someone else once had the same thought.

Next, works.

I used to be a product manager. It is a curious profession: you help build many products, yet it is hard to say any of them truly belongs to you.

So I want to keep the products, tools, and other things I make here. They may not change the world—the world is busy and may not be waiting for me to change it. But every finished work proves that I once took a problem seriously.

This is my record of making, and a gesture of respect to my former role as a product manager.

Finally, objects.

This will not become a guide to getting rich overnight, nor will it manufacture the anxiety of “buy now or regret it forever.” I only want to share things I have actually used and genuinely found worthwhile.

A cup, a lamp, a tool: each can make ordinary life a little better. If one recommendation helps someone avoid a bad purchase, that is enough. Sharing does not have to become a business. Sometimes something is simply good, and you want other people to know.

So the site has three sections:

Ideas are how I understand the world.

Works are how I respond to it.

Objects are how I live in it.

In the end, I am simply someone with a strong urge to share, trying to preserve my conversation with the world.

The body will eventually go offline.

I hope Shadow stays online.
